Animal welfare at the Giza Pyramids is becoming a central priority for both the Egyptian government and licensed tour operators. With thousands of visitors each day, horses and camels remain an iconic part of the pyramid experience. Ensuring these animals are healthy, well-treated, and properly cared for is not only vital for their wellbeing, but also for enhancing Egypt’s reputation as a world-class, responsible tourism destination.

For travelers planning to visit, our Giza Pyramids Half-Day Tour from Cairo | Private Guided Tour offers the perfect way to explore Egypt’s most famous landmark with the peace of mind that you’re booking through a licensed operator committed to ethical and sustainable tourism.
In line with directives from Eng. Adel Al-Naggar, Governor of Giza, to enhance the quality of services provided to visitors at the Giza Pyramids archaeological site, the Governorate has organized a veterinary convoy dedicated to treating and vaccinating working animals in the area.

Deputy Governor Hind Abdel Halim oversaw the activities of the veterinary campaign, which was carried out by the Giza Veterinary Directorate in cooperation with the Ministries of Agriculture and Tourism & Antiquities. The initiative focused on providing medical care and vaccinations for horses and camels that serve visitors at the pyramids.
According to the official report from the Veterinary Directorate, the campaign successfully performed 16 surgical procedures, treated 153 animals suffering from malnutrition, weakness, and internal diseases, and administered vaccinations to 125 more animals against external parasites — reaching a total of 294 cases.

The campaign also included awareness workshops for animal owners, highlighting common diseases affecting camels and horses, the importance of routine veterinary check-ups, and best practices for keeping animals healthy and presentable for tourists.
This initiative reflects the Governorate’s commitment, in coordination with national institutions, to ensure the welfare of animals at Egypt’s most visited heritage site.

At Emo Tours Egypt, we strongly support these government efforts. As a licensed private-sector tour operator, we believe that promoting humane treatment of animals is essential not only to preserving Egypt’s cultural heritage but also to delivering a respectful and responsible tourism experience. By working hand-in-hand with the public sector, we contribute to ensuring that Egypt remains a world-class destination where both visitors and animals are cared for with dignity.
